Established in 1978, the ASSC is a not-for-profit membership organisation representing over 1,600 members and thousands of self-catering properties across Scotland. It offers expert guidance, advocacy, events, and practical resources to support and strengthen the sector. The ASSC works closely with key stakeholders including VisitScotland, the Scottish Tourism Alliance, and the Scottish Government, and is supported by around 80 business partners offering insight into sustainability, regulation, and development. Members also benefit from EmbraceScotland, a commission-free platform that enhances visibility and drives direct bookings.

How Association of Scotland’s Self-Caterers makes a difference?

The ASSC is committed to leading Scotland’s self-catering sector toward a low-carbon, climate-resilient future. Guided by its Climate Action Plan and the principles of being Sustainable, Achievable, and Meaningful (SAM), members are supported to take practical, measurable climate action. In line with the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism, the ASSC’s work is shaped by five key pathways: Measure, Decarbonise, Regenerate, Collaborate, and Finance. Through expert guidance, advocacy, and tailored resources, the ASSC helps members reduce emissions, enhance energy efficiency, support biodiversity, and engage guests in responsible travel. By embedding sustainability across all operations, the ASSC is shaping a more resilient, nature-positive tourism future that benefits members, guests, and communities.
